Ghostbusters.

"Who you gonna call?"

This is one of my favourite childhood ghost-comedy movie. I remembered watching it at least a gazillion time before the tape gave up. Released in 1984, Ghostbusters and its sequel, Ghostbusters 2 (1989), captured the box office by storm. Directed by Ivan Reitman, it stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis as the founders whom are a trio of parapsychologists—Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler, Rick Moranis as the hilariously nerdy Louis Tully, Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett whose apartment was haunted by the Mesopotamian demon called Zuul and Venkman love interest, Annie Potts as the sharp, with a sarcastic sense of humor Janine Melnitz who is the Ghostbusters' secretary and confidante secretly admiring Spengler, and Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore, the fourth Ghostbuster who often is the voice of reason behind the team's eccentricities. It also gave several memorable non-human characters like Slimer the green floating ghost as well as The Marshmallow Man Stay Puft, a Michelin Man look-alike monstrous marshmallow mascot. The guys ride in Ecto-1 aka Ectomobile, a beaten up 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor with ambulance style conversion. To capture the ghosts, they yield proton packs, a sort of charged particle accelerator beam and back then, I thought they looked so kewl. And who could forget Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters" theme song? Now, I think I would try to secure a DVD copy later this week. Happy 25th Anniversary.
