Chloe & Dylan ~ CNY 2012 at Malacca.
A total change from the dull Teluk Intan. Sorry, too honest. More merrier atmosphere. Journey there is smooth, and no jam. Tried to avoid the city centre as much as possible, too many tourists. But risked it when we went to Jonker's Walk for a t-shirt or two at the Orang Utan House by Charles Cham. It's becoming a tradition, to get the latest tee reflecting each CNY on the imprint. Also, went nearby for the delicious, could not get any where else, as where as I am concern, the spring roll outside of Madam King's store. Gotta prepare to wait though. Delicious it is, with all arteries choking lardy goodness but not too many though, as it can be overwhelming after one or two rolls. Call it the Law of Diminishing Return. Esther's mom whipped up some delicious traditional CNY lunch and dinner as usual.
CNY 2012 ~ Teluk Intan.
Back to TA (Teluk Anson, the ole name for Teluk Intan), on Sunday early in the wee hour of the morning, 6am to be precised, for the fear of traffic exodus. Pop and Mom called in on Friday evening and they took about 6 hours for a 2 hours trip. Surprisingly, hardly any jam. Great. Reached there at 8am, stopped by McD to grab some breakfasts. But with no kids around, the cousins' kids were all either in Spore or Penang, sister and family in Langkawi, it was admittedly a rather quiet affair at TA. Feels like an old folks home, hehehe. But the kids enjoyed themselves, finding their own way to entertain themselves, at night, played some fire crackers and sparklers, one which unfortunately landed too near us, gave us a fright. No Ah Lek's chee cheong fun this year, as it was getting too expensive, and too lazy to go out. By Tuesday, we were off back to Subang for a rest before departing for Malacca on Wed morning.

Chloe & Dylan ~ Food Poisoning Pt. 2.
Chloe recovered. Dylan is still weak. Esther said he did vomit once at the hospital but has since stopped. So is the diarrhea. I am very worried. Dehydration is one of the primary issues at times like this but Dylan refuses to take either the medication nor the oral re hydration solutions unless force to, which results in him throwing further tantrum. He is still feeling weak and looking pale...Very stress...since we are curious why Esther and I are still alright, the doc said it could be due to many reasons, mostly personal hygiene or could be some form of bacteria, virus.

Hot Toys MMS 69 ~ The Dark Knight Batmobile Re-issue.
Yup, it's on! Re-issue is generally not a bad thing, it's good news for those who miss out the first (and second) time. Anyhoo, a great addition to personal 1/6th scale vehicle collection like the Kaneda's 1/6th bike and Ma.K SAFS. And I wonder, if HT would also re-issue Batpod? Anne Hathaway's Catwoman looks kinda nice on it. Hhhmm, Anne Hathaway's Catwoman, if HT were to release it vs. Michelle Pfeiffer's version. Decision decision....
Chloe & Dylan ~ Food Poisoning....
First mom, then Squetch's little sister, now Chloe and Dylan, all down with suspected food poisoning. Didn't sleep last night at all, both precious kept throwing up, even after visit to the 24 hours GP. Chloe got better, but Esther had to bring Dylan to the hospital as he threw up each time he took the medication (as well as refusing it and threw tantrum). Please let them be fine and healthy again soonest possible.

Real Steel.
And if Warrior is reminiscence of Rocky and The Wrestler, well the 2011 sci-fi Real Steel reminds me of the underdog versus the big guy kind of movie, like the original The Karate Kid (1984) and the fantasy baseball story starring Robert Redford and Glen Close, The Natural (1984). Directed by Shawn Levy, and starring Hugh Jackman and the ever luscious Evangeline Lily of Lost, the mind boggling TV series, it tells the tale of robot boxers in the near future, and also yet another estranged relationship between Hugh's character and his son from a previous relationship. The story is made entertaining with the fights between the 'bots boxers, which indirectly serves as a catharsis which eventually strengthen the father and son relationship. I think overall it's about giving everybody a second chance at redemption and putting faith and hope above all in what seems to be an insurmountable situation.
Warrior.
Rocky (1976) and The Wrestler (2008), are some of the great classics about sport and the personal lives of its character, which touches the heart and comes with "soul". Now I would add this 2011 movie to the list. Directed by Gavin O' Connor, and starring veteran Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy (last seen by me in 2010 Inception, and now almost unrecognisable as he beefed up tremendously for this movie, and for the upcoming Dark Knight Rises as Bane) and Joel Edgerton (last seen in The Thing prequel), this flick's 'bout the two brothers estranged relationship with each other and their father, all happenin' within the world of mixed martial arts tournament. Watch this and get ready for a heartfelt moment, particularly the intense climatic battle between the two brothers.

Chloe & Dylan ~ Apple iPad 2.
With all the news surrounding DiD x InIcons 1/6th Steve Jobs figure, it's undeniable that the late Apple founder's product is darn addictive. Esther "supposedly" got the iPad 2 for herself last month, but in actuality, it's more like a gift for Chloe and Dylan. They have been playing and tinkering with the new found tool ever since.

All abuzz over ‘Ethical Clothing'.
By JOSEPH SIPALAN and JOSEPH KAOS Jr
~ from The Star, 6th Jan 2012.
PETALING JAYA: If you are working at the Defence Ministry, be sure not to wear “clothes that poke eye”. This was one of the many colourful descriptions of “Ethical Clothing” (etika berpakaian) that is acceptable within the ministry's standards. Netizens on social networking sites were literally ROFL, which is cyberspeak for “rolling on the floor laughing”, as they shared the link to the ministry's amusing English translation of the staff dress code on its official website. “Clothes that poke eye” is a literal translation of pakaian yang menjolok mata, which is supposed to mean revealing clothes in Bahasa Malaysia. Other finds included: “collared shirts and tight Malay civet berbutang three”, which, in Malay, is berkolar baju Melayu cekak musang berbutang tiga. Baju batik lengan panjang berkolar / cekak musang buatan Malaysia, meanwhile is translated as “long-sleeve batik shirt with collar / mongoose fight made in Malaysia”. There was also “shine closed”, which was translated from kasut bertutup, or closed-toe shoes. Another was the brief summary of the ministry's history on the website, which read: “After the withdrawal of British army, the Malaysian Government take drastic measures to increase the level of any national security threat.” The actual summary in Bahasa Malaysia read: Selepas pengunduran tentera British, Kerajaan Malaysia mengambil langkah drastik untuk meningkatkan tahap keselamatan negara dari sebarang ancaman. The ministry took down the English translated version several hours after it went widespread on Twitter and Facebook. A ministry spokesperson said a clarification has since been posted on the website, adding that page hits shot up remarkably yesterday. The clarification on the website said corrective action was being taken on the related software to ensure translations were accurate.

...................................................................
I literally smiled when I read this on the local daily (on an otherwise another dour day). While my own English is, admittedly, sub-par at best, me thinks certain ministries should take the effort to do translation from Bee Em to Inglish more professionally, not just running through the translation via, just a suspicion btw, say Google Translate.
