In the far future, there is only war. Oops. Wrong start. That's WH40K.
Actually it's "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....", and follows by a sudden, loud title of the word "STAR WARS", which by the way, never fails to shock the heck out of me, follows by a crawl or rollup providing a an explanation of the backstory and context of the film. The crawl begins with film's episode number followed by a three-paragraph summary of the events immediately prior to the incidents of the film.
I was still a toddler when the 1977 "The New Hope" aka Episode IV, but the 1980 "The Empire Strikes Back" aka Episode V was the first of the six movies I seen and really, again courtesy of VHS rental. Then there's is so-so "The Return of the Jedi" aka Episode VI in 1983. Conceived by George Lucas, the movies create a worldwide pop cultural phenomenon ("May the force be with you"). Heck, even Esther mistook the ThreeA severed bot head as R2D2. Vader, Luke, Han Solo, Leia, Chewie, 3CPO and R2D2. And the AT-AT walkers during the assault on the rebel base on Hoth remains as memorable as ever. It seeded what would become an admiration for all sort of huge assault vehicles and tanks.
Hhhmm..maybe I should really consider getting that Hot Toys DX Luke Skywalker. But here's the thing. I am not too hardcore about it, just casual about the whole Star Wars universe thingy.
And I don't quite like Episode I to III, not because of the special effects but of certain characters i.e. Jar Jar Binks and the scripts. Yes, the scripts. And names. Count Dooku? C'mon. And the lame Trade Federation droids. Goosebumps were raised several times. Anyhoo, today's 4th of May, so to all Star Wars fan out there, may the fourth be with youse all.
