Started Hellboy trade paperbacks collection way back in 1994. It is great to have Mezco issuing out Hellboy 6 incher and 18 incher as based on the art by Mike Mignola. I am a fan of Mike Mignola and his ink heavy drawings had me hooked ever since I first read a one shot story about Wolverine vs an Apocalypse imposter by Marvels. And the Hellboy stories are great because the way Mike weaved most of the world's mythological, folklore, supernatural stuffs cohesively into a rather exciting storyline (a nice short story tribute to the dreaded Hantu Penanggal, based on a folklore of this country). More importantly, Hellboy the character constantly struggled internally against the fact that he is a demon with the Crown Of Apocalypse and the bearer of The Right Hand Of Doom, the key to the destruction of Earth by the dragon Ogdru Jahad. Nature vs nuture conflict. Don't quite like the way he was depicted in the movies though...not to do with Ron Pearlman, but I reckoned (like Marv in Sin City) it would be impossible to truly capture a 100% acccurate Hellboy as per rendered by Mike. I got these, version "battle-damaged" and version "San Diego Comicon exclusive ~ Heads" which comes packaged with seven Nukekubi (抜首) demon heads Hellboy encountered in Kyoto in '67 , from eBay, as it was sold out everywhere else, at a great price too. It was box fresh as hoped. The articulation is nothing to shout about but Mezco did a great job capturing the accuracy of comic version Hellboy.
